African American History  

The Shepard Library has a strong African American History Collection.  When researching the first place you should start your research is with the library's online catalog.  If you can not find what you are looking for using the catalog or by using this guide please see the Reference Librarians.

These areas of the LC Classification system contain materials about African American history.  Please note that these are not the only areas of the library where you will find information on African American history.  You can use the Library of Congress Subject Headings 31st edition to search for a specific topic using the Library of Congress terminology.
