Eagles Leading in Libraries

This guide on leadership is a helpful resource specifically designed for students of the North Carolina Central University School of Library and Information Sciences (SLIS) who are interested in pursuing leadership roles in libraries. Jamillah Scott-Branch, a member of the Class of 2008, created this guide as a part of her dissertation study titled Exploring the Leadership Routes, Barriers, Practices, and Lived Experiences of Black Alumni Library Leaders from NCCU SLIS. She has compiled a list of resources to help the next generation of SLIS students prepare for administrative positions.  It is important to note that many of the resources listed here were recommended by NCCU SLIS alumni who are now leading in libraries. These resources include scholarships, leadership development opportunities, library organizations for learning and networking, and more. The aim of this guide is to make information on leadership programs, residency programs, scholarships, and resources more accessible. Additionally, the guide features a list of a few prominent NCCU SLIS graduates and highlights the many places where they are leading in libraries.
