EDU 3520 CBE Teaching Math: Project 3

Project 3 Competency and Sub-Competencies

Project Competency:

Develop and teach full, integrated units of instruction using NCDPI grade level standards for geometry, measurement, and data.

Sub-Competencies:

  • Demonstrate the ability to organize, draw and/or interpret graphs representing data.
  • Demonstrate standard and nonstandard units in measuring length, perimeter, area, capacity, volume, weight, angle, time, and temperature.
  • Use a variety of manipulatives to develop geometric concepts and spatial relationships.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving in two-and three-dimensional geometry involving parallelism.
  • Demonstrate construction of simple geometric figures.
  • Recognize and construct consistent and logical arguments (intuitive proofs) for mathematical statements.
  • Serve as a model to assist all children in developing positive attitudes towards mathematics.
  • Model the constructivist view of learning and understanding of mathematics.

Deliverable:

Your project will include:

  1. Completion of the edTPA Context for Learningfor the learners being taught (You will need a different CFL for each class/grade level, if you choose to plan for multiple grade levels.)
  2. geometry unitintegrated with one other content area
  3. measurementunit integrated with one other content area
  4. dataunit integrated with one other content area
  5. An analysis of student learning and next stepsafter teaching your learning segment (in Field Experience #3)
