Can apply knowledge about students to adapt teaching strategies and construct meaningful and developmentally appropriate interventions for students with exceptionalities.

Sub-Competencies

• Plan, implement and execute strategies necessary for teaching students to manage their unique learning needs
• Develop specific classroom accommodations aligned with a particular student’s strengths and limitations
• Cite areas in the planning, teaching and evaluation components of the teaching-learning cycle that should be considered when developing specific accommodations
• Describe and provide examples of classroom instructional accommodations to meet the unique needs of students

Project Deliverables

1. A lesson plan for 5th grade science or social studies that is developmentally appropriate and based on the UDL framework
2. A lesson justification demonstrating how this revised lesson meets UDL and how it meets specific needs of learners in your classroom
